The lake, located in the second-largest municipal park in New York after New York City's Central Park, is an impoundment of Gill Creek, which is a tributary of the upper Niagara River.

Beginning Saturday, July 22, the Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda will host a month-long exhibition of original cartoon and comic art: "A History of the Funnies: 1880s-2000s."
