In collaboration with the pastoral care department at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, The GreenFields Continuing Care Community has introduced "Reflections," a volunteer-driven program aimed at capturing the memories and life experiences of its residents.
The program was inspired by Roswell Park's "Life Recorded" initiative and modeled after StoryCorps' Legacy Project. Program volunteers at The GreenFields receive training and ongoing coaching from experienced RPCI "Life Recorded" facilitators.
"Reflections" offers The GreenFields residents the opportunity to share memories and life experiences through the art of storytelling. Conversations between the interviewer and storyteller are captured on videotape, giving residents the opportunity to share their unique story, often revealing their hopes and dreams. The story is captured and shared with the residents' family, providing a legacy gift for future generations to come.
"We are delighted to partner with Roswell Park on such a meaningful program. Not only does 'Reflections' create a treasured memory for the residents' families, it teaches our staff and volunteers about the value of listening and interpersonal relationships," said Shoshone Dentice, executive director of community relations.
The "Reflections" program was initially funded by a donation from the Niagara Lutheran Health System Guild. To contribute to the enhancement of The GreenField Continuing Care "Reflections" program, one can send checks made payable to The Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation at 5959 Broadway, Lancaster, NY, 14086. Those interested in becoming a volunteer for the "Reflections" program can contact Dentice for more information at 716-684-0202, ext. 1809, or email [email protected].

GreenField Terrace provides memory care and enhanced assisted living.
