The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced the introduction of online renewals for the 2019 Empire Pass, beginning now and continuing through March 31, 2019. By renewing online, customers can now enjoy greater convenience by keeping their card - and receive a special loyalty savings of $10 per card for the 2019 season.
New HAWK signal in Williamsville

Motorists and pedestrians will notice a new kind of traffic signal on Main Street in Williamsville beginning today. The HAWK (high-intensity activated crosswalk) signal is in front of the Williamsville Library, allowing pedestrians to cross safely mid-block.

The 600 block of 10th Street in front of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will be closed temporarily to thru traffic for both vehicles and pedestrians from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday as a crane is used to deliver an HVAC unit to the roof of the hospital's seven-story Schoellkopf Building (S Building).
Niagara Greenway projects, November meeting announced

The Niagara River Greenway Commission will meet Tuesday, Nov. 20, to determine the consistency of the 62nd round of projects. The meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at the Grand Island Court Room, 2255 Baseline Road. The general meeting will be preceded at 2 p.m. by the business meeting at the WNY Welcome Center on Grand Island.

The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS) announced the opening of the Aurora Village Residential Treatment Facility, operated by Horizon Health Services. The 25-bed facility will provide addiction treatment services for women ages 18 and over.

New York State Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas and Allentown Association on Thursday celebrated projects underway and completed under a $300,000 Buffalo Main Streets Initiative grant, which is working with six property and business owners to complete façade and commercial renovation projects within a few blocks of Allen Street. The Allentown neighborhood is on the local, state and national registries for historic places.

Congressman Brian Higgins, D-NY-26, has announced two federal grants awarded to Compeer Buffalo to strengthen its mental health assistance programs. The grants total $2,175,000, and were awarded by the Health and Human Services Department's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs.

Memorial Medical Center schedules flu shot clinic

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will conduct a flu shot clinic for adults 18 and older from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. The clinic will be held on the first floor of the Golisano Center for Community Health, 533 10th St. Both quadrivalent and high dose influenza vaccines will be available along with two types of pneumonia vaccine.
