Congressman Chris Collins released the following statement on Monday, urging local schools to participate in this year's "Holiday Mail for the Troops" program.
"I am proud to once again invite all elementary-age students in New York's 27th District to create holiday cards for our troops," Collins said. "The holiday season is fast approaching and many of our brave service men and women will not be able enjoy it at home with their families. Nothing can replace being with loved ones and friends during the holidays, but together we can brighten this holiday season for our troops."
A press release further stated, "With your help, we will distribute holiday cards to the brave men and women at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station to show our appreciation for their service."
Participants are asked to drop off the holiday cards to either of Collins' district offices no later than Friday, Dec. 14, to ensure delivery by Christmas:
•Lancaster district office, 2813 Wehrle Drive, Suite 13, Williamsville (716-634-2324)
•Geneseo district office, 128 Main St., Geneseo (585-519-4002)
Contact Shannon Dougherty at [email protected] with questions about how a school can participate. Dougherty can be reached by phone at 585-815-5286.
