Hart recently chatted with NFP about his new work, his home outside of Nashville, and touring with his "brothers": Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra. The trio will perform in Lewiston on July 9 as part of "Tuesdays in the Park" at Artpark.

Thanks to NBC's hit summer series "Songland," the public has a newfound interest in what goes into making a hit song. Though the show's headliners - including John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and will.i.am - are often thought of when hearing (or singing) a final product, many tunes take a team to be top of the pops. One of the music industry's more sought-after masterminds will perform at Artpark as part of "Tuesdays in the Park" on July 9. Kevin Griffin will showcase his own hit songs, including "Good," "King of New Orleans" and "Desperately Wanting," when Better Than Ezra takes the amphitheater stage.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital has unveiled a fourth series of works from artists of Intandem. The works were created by people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities during fine arts classes. The newest display is located in the hospital's main hallway.

Cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers and community members will unite for the American Cancer Society's "Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Happy Hour" in an effort to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. The event runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at The Lafayette, 391 Washington St. Buffalo.

Anthropology students from SUNY Buffalo State College are spending time at Old Fort Niagara this month. They are participating in an archaeological field school that is actively excavating Building 428, a barracks spanning the years 1756-1813 near the North Redoubt. Built by the French in 1756, it disappears from maps and plans in 1814 without records of why or how. The barracks housed soldiers while they were garrisoned at the fort.

Artpark & Company's annual "Fairy House Festival" offered a flurry of activities designed for all age groups. In fact, in each corner of the lower park area - where the event returned this year - one could find some new activity or sight. Throughout the afternoon, children and families dressed up, made fairy houses, concocted potions, visited the tea house, listened to music - made music in the interactive instrument garden - danced with costumed characters, picnicked and played games.

A statue of the Madonna that once stood in front of Niagara Catholic High School has found a new home at the foot of St. Peter R.C. Church in Lewiston. On Sunday, the Rev. Monsignor David LiPuma led a Mass of thanksgiving and dedication as he stood next to the monument of Mary.

Junior Achievement of Western New York (JA) announced it raised a record-breaking $174,711 from its 35th annual JA Bowl-A-Thon, WNY's largest bowling fundraiser. A total of 1,420 participants representing 64 local companies bowled and raised funds for JA's financial literacy, career and work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs taught by volunteers in WNY schools.

The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. board of directors met Monday and authorized ECHDC to enter into a $5.53 million contract with Savarino Companies LLC for construction of the Longshed Building at Canalside. The approximately 4,400-square-foot wood-frame structure will reflect the Central Wharf site's history by incorporating elements from the Joy and Webster Storehouse located on the site in the early 1800s. Staff and volunteers with the Buffalo Maritime Center will work out of the building during its first three years while building a replica of an 1825 packet boat.

Thanks to higher-than-normal precipitation over the past few months in the Midwest, coupled with a melting snow pack throughout much of the Great Lakes, water levels across the system are above their long-term averages - and expected to remain that way for some time. Additionally, threats of lakeshore flooding are becoming more likely.

As predicted, the Lewiston Smelt Festival was about 55 and overcast on Friday. What was an unexpected surprise was the amount of mud within Academy Park, where the annual event relocated for 2019. To counter the conditions, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce brought in an oversized party tent and buckets of wood chips.
