Based on new guidelines from the New York State Department of Health, non-COVID-19 patients in Catholic Health hospitals are now allowed up to two visitors at a time. In addition, maternity patients will be allowed two support persons for the duration of their hospital stay and, in certain outpatient clinic settings, where space permits, patients may be accompanied by a support person for their appointments.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced trout fishing season in New York opens Thursday, April 1. In preparation for opening day, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is stocking 1.8 million catchable trout in waters across the state. In addition to larger-size fish being stocked this year, some stream reaches will receive four stockings of trout.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is increasing the maximum amount small businesses and nonprofit organizations can borrow through its COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. Starting the week of April 6, the SBA is raising the loan limit for the COVID-19 EIDL program from six months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $150,000 to up to 24 months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $500,000.

On Friday, New York State Budget Director Robert F. Mujica Jr. stated, "At the governor's direction, the Department of Tax and Finance will be extending the New York state income tax deadline to May 17 to align with the federal decision to do the same. This 30-day extension provides New Yorkers still coping with the complications of the COVID-19 pandemic ample time to file. This will shift approximately $6 billion of revenue from April to May, and the state will make any necessary adjustments to cash flow."
