New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli is urging New Yorkers to spend the gift cards they received this holiday season in a timely fashion. If not, the money could eventually get turned over to the Office of Unclaimed Funds. In the past seven years, the amount returned to DiNapoli's office in unused gift cards has risen sharply from $5.8 million in 2014 to $16 million in 2021.

New York Farm Bureau's 2021 market basket survey shows the price of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner saw a modest uptick from last year's meal. On Nov. 13-14, the Niagara Wine Trail will host its annual "Share the Bounty" event. Each participating winery has selected a different charity. They will collection donation of items or donate the tasting fees to that charity. There is no ticket for this event, but people are encouraged to visit as many wineries as they wish.
