The Erie County Department of Social Services announced applications for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) regular benefits will be accepted beginning Friday, Nov. 1. The DSS is strongly encouraging applicants to apply online or to utilize remote channels to apply. As in previous years, interested applicants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later.

A wide variety of products were offered for sale in the dining area at the Golden Age Center. If people were interested in buying something that they could take home and eat, they had the option of purchasing baked goods, jams and jellies or locally produced honey. The honey, which came in a variety of colors, was offered for sale by beekeeper Joe Mesmer.

Ryan announces $1 million for accessibility upgrades at Beaver Island State Park

A tractor-trailer, loaded with 16 pallets of relief donations from Grand Island, began its trip from the Southern Tier town of Fillmore to Boone, North Carolina, on Oct. 7. It began its journey at Grand Island Town Hall two days earlier. The full trailer happened as the result of efforts by three men who live on the same street near Huth Road Elementary School.
