On Oct. 3, at 6:16 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communication center received multiple commercial burglary alarms from the Niagara International Sports Complex, formerly the Summit Park Mall. The alarms included several video alarms, which showed an individual in the building walking around.

Niagara County Office of the Aging Director Darlene DiCarlo announced the county's Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) will host a series of community meetings for seniors to answer their health insurance questions. HIICAP offers free, unbiased, confidential assistance on health insurance, with information and counseling provided by professionally trained staff and volunteers.

Niagara University's Holzschuh College of Business Administration has been awarded a $500,000 Higher Education Capital Matching Grant for the construction of a facility to house the Centers for Food Industry Innovation and Supply Chain Excellence. The facility, which will be located in Bisgrove Hall, will include an innovation hub, a classroom of the future, and a business technology lab.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. Monday, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Pine Avenue to check the welfare of a man sitting in a pickup truck. Upon arrival, officers located a 47-year-old male, sitting in the driver seat, unresponsive. Niagara Falls Fire Department and AMR responded to render aid, at which time it was determined that the victim had been shot.

Hanlon announced the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has begun sending out driver's license suspension notices to the 95,000 motorists who renewed their license between March 1, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021, by self-certifying their vision, but have failed to submit the results.
