Pendleton Station Market closes out season with celebration

Oct. 15 marked final day of Pendleton Station Market for season

From June to October, Pendleton Town Hall hosts the local farmers and art market where vendors can connect to community members. The market occurs every Sunday and features various vendors from the area. 

Pam Gorman, a first-time vendor at the market, braved the cold to be there on the final day. Gorman founded and owns her business, So Good Granola, which she has brought to the Pendleton Station Market this year. 

“I like to be consistent and I have been doing second Sundays all year,” Gorman said.

The market offered a wide variety of items such as local produce, jewelry, candles, baked goods and more. On this special occasion, the market also embraced the Halloween theme. Many costumes could be seen and each vendor gave candy to children in costume. 

Liz Delorenzo, a shopper at the market, looked fondly at her experience there. 

“It’s a super-family-friendly environment. It’s not just about doing your shopping, there is really something for everyone,” Delorenzo stated. 

Local markets like this one in Pendleton give vendors the opportunity to connect with other vendors and blend their customer base. 

“I have a pretty good following of customers, and I love when they come here and they don't just patronize me, but they patronize the other businesses, too. So, that's really nice,” Gorman stated. 

Gorman finds that markets like the Pendleton Station Market are very important for her business. By selling her products in person, she gives customers the opportunity to try her products before they commit to buying them. 

“I offer samples of everything so people can try it before they buy it, or they can choose not to buy and that's fine, too,” Gorman said. 

The local market also gives the opportunity for people to support small businesses. Here, customers have the opportunity to connect with the people they are buying their products from, which Delorenzo cherishes. 

“I trust produce from a market like this more than what’s in the grocery store,” Delorenzo stated. 

Pendleton Station Market features businesses such as Natureily, Strobel Farms and Menard Family Maple. The Niagara County Department of Health was also present at the market offering community members flu shots and vaccinations on site. 

Customers in Pendleton will now have to wait until next year for the market to return. 

“I usually go to local farms when the farmers market is out of season, but having markets like this is nice because there is a variety of things all in one place whereas now I may have to go to a few different places or go online to find things I want, ” Delorenzo said.
