Eating about a half a cup of walnuts every day for two years modestly lowered levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, known as "bad cholesterol," and reduced the number of total LDL particles and small LDL particles in healthy, older adults, according to new research published Monday in the American Heart Association's flagship journal Circulation.

New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced the winners of the 2021 dairy products competition in celebration of Dairy Day at The Great New York State Fair. Twelve cheese manufacturers were awarded this year, including Old Chatham Creamery, from Tompkins County, which earned the Grand Champion award for its camembert cheese. Upstate Farms was honored with gold for the state's top-scoring milk, with Stewart's earning silver.

The smell of lilacs in the backyard. Muddy knees and properly exhausted from playing outside, only to be rewarded with a freshly baked rhubarb dessert. This was spring at my grandparent's house in Niagara County. While my grandmother is now 97 years old, and she isn't baking like she used to, the younger generation is taking over in the kitchen.
