Private investment for youth baseball in City of Niagara Falls exceeds $1.4 million

Gronk Nation Travel Baseball invites the community to its open house at what it called the “state-of-the-art Powerhouse Sports Center, the latest initiative to support youth baseball in Niagara Falls. Formerly known as the Volare Lodge, the facility has been transformed into a premier destination for young athletes seeking top-tier training resources.”

An open house is slated for the Powerhouse Sports Center, 5615 Kies Ave., on the following days:

√ 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20

√ 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21

√ 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 22

The 9,800-square-foot center offers a turf field, four retractable ceiling-mounted batting cages, padded walls, and a fitness center. It also features a lounge for players and parents, integrates advanced technology like Trackman, and has numerous televisions tailored for training.

Funded by local businessmen Jerry Puleo, Anthony Ruffolo and Zach Casale, the Powerhouse Sports Center will officially open its doors on Oct. 23.

The press release added, “With a substantial investment surpassing $800,000, the facility has been transformed into a cutting-edge baseball complex, offering year-round opportunities for Niagara Falls youth to hone their athletic abilities. This initiative, representing a $1.4 million commitment to local youth baseball, builds on Puleo's previous contributions to the community, including the development of 16 Athletics, and Midtown Baseball Complex.

“Now in its third year, Gronk Nation supports 14 teams, encompassing 170 players ranging from 6 to 18 years old. Its partnership with the Niagara Falls School District provides access to top-notch baseball complexes – and working with the City of Niagara Falls to access the newly renovated Sal Maglie Stadium, enhancing Niagara Falls' reputation as an attractive national hub for summer tournaments. This development benefits the sporting community and promises a boost for local businesses, hotels and restaurants.”
