Board of Education honors top popcorn seller

At its Sept. 25 meeting, the Grand Island Board of Education honored Grayson Shelp, 13, for his dedication to selling popcorn for Boy Scout Troop 510. During this past summer, Grayson sold $15,000 worth of popcorn, breaking his own record that he set two years ago.

When Nora Conta was a 6-month-old baby, she couldn't hold a bottle and she couldn't grab toys. Her hands were closed tight, and she was unable to open them. It was when she was 6 months old that her parents wondered if something was wrong with their daughter.

Charles DeGlopper statue cleaned and waxed

Sculptor Susan Geissler directed a group of volunteers from American Legion Post 1346 in the annual cleaning and waxing of the statue of Charles DeGlopper. Geissler, whose works include the Freedom Crossing and Tuscarora Heroes monuments in Lewiston, said regular cleaning and waxing of bronze sculptures will ensure they stay in good condition for years to come.

Disney Concerts announced "Disney Princess - The Concert," a celebration of the music of Disney's iconic princesses performed by Broadway stars, will return to the U.S. for a 39-city run kicking off March 5, 2024, in Memphis.
