Peter Marston will be Grand Island's new supervisor. The current deputy supervisor won on the Conservative line, with 57.76% of the vote, against Republican Mike Madigan, who garnered 41.85%, in Tuesday's general election. Marston got 3,510 votes to Madigan's 2,543.

The CW Network will become the official broadcast home to "WWE NXT" in October 2024. The five-year agreement marks the first time in its 13-year history that "WWE NXT" - which showcases WWE's hottest up-and-coming Superstars - will air on a broadcast television network. "WWE NXT" will debut on The CW Network in October 2024 and air 52 live weekly events throughout the season.

Niagara County Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announced the continued multisite expansion of the Niagara County Public Safety Radio Network has been completed. This latest expansion includes tower sites in the towns of Wheatfield, Wilson and Somerset. These sites were selected to enhance coverage areas for the digital radio system, which is utilized by police, fire, EMS and other government agencies in Niagara County.

Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a home in the 500 block of 20th Street for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old from Niagara Falls suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 63-year-old Gerald Steven Pigeon, also known as Steve Pigeon, of Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty this afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of sexual abuse in the first degree (class "D" violent felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge ahead of a jury trial that was scheduled to begin next month.

Nov. 5-11, 2023, is Drowsy Driving Prevention Week - held each year the week following the end of Daylight Saving Time. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports an estimated 100,000 crashes each year are caused primarily by drowsy driving, resulting in more than 71,000 injuries and $12.5 million in damages.
