Joseph Cecconi, a native of Youngstown, competed on Team USA for the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Hockey Tournament in Montreal. He was one of 23 players from around the U.S. who competed, and brought home the gold by defeating Team Canada in a final 5-4 shootout victory on Jan. 5.

DiMino Tops Lewiston once again sponsored the Christmas Coloring Contest, wherein children decorated a holiday scene published inside the Sentinel. Entries were displayed inside the village supermarket, where winners were announced last weekend.

The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees on Monday approved Ellicott Development's site plan, a proposal to build a 4.1-acre, multimillion-dollar mixed-use plaza on the corner of Center, North Eighth and Onondaga streets. Trustee Dan Gibson was the lone dissenting vote.

A small change on paper made a big difference Monday, as the Village of Lewiston Historic Preservation Commission approved a modified request by Hastings Lewiston Inc. to subdivide the property at 460 Center St. Commissioners voted 4-0 to grant a certificate of appropriateness, and to move the concept along to the Planning Board.
