The Niagara Falls Americans baseball team will kick off their inaugural season at Sal Maglie Stadium in June this summer. The Americans have officially released their promotional schedule, which includes, firework nights, $1 hot dog night, $2 beer night, giveaways, theme nights and community nights.

With an emphasis on working properly on the development of youth and mental health, the Youth Bureau is happy to sponsor this event free of charge for Niagara County resident coaches, Niagara County youth sport organization coaches, and all coaches/administrators within Niagara County school districts.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation reminds boaters of the dangers of cold water if venturing out this spring for recreation or to view the rare total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. OPRHP recommends to boaters and paddlers that, even in the first few weeks of spring, the water is still very cold, and precautions should be taken.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced two free snowmobile weekends for all out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers to rev their engines. This year's events will occur March 1-3 and now March 8-10, encouraging out-of-state visitors to come ride the 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails in New York state.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the six designated 2024 "Free Fishing Days" in New York will take place on: Feb. 17-18 (Presidents' Day weekend), June 29-30, Sept. 28 (National Hunting and Fishing Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). During these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York's waters.
