Nationally renowned criminologist Danielle Slakoff, Ph.D., will discuss her work on the relationship between the media, intimate partner violence, and identity during a presentation hosted by Niagara University's Office of Violence Prevention and Education on Friday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. in the Russell Salvatore Dining Commons. The presentation is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Mason FOREVER Foundation awards scholarships honor of Mason Sawyer Monteleone. He was interdisciplinary health science major student at the University of Florida in Tallahassee when he tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21. Monteleone was interested in becoming a physician assistant or an orthopedic surgeon. He graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo and attended middle school at Lewiston-Porter.

Stoute as its 25th president during an inauguration ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Koessler Athletic Center, located at the corner of Main Street and Delavan Avenue. Rosa and members of the New York State Education Department made a visit to the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, specifically to the Tuscarora Indian School. The goal of the stop was to meet with the members of the Tuscarora Council, tour the school, and inspect the beginning of school improvements that have started thanks to monies from New York state totaling $11.8 million.

UB department of music, BPO collaborate to commemorate Lukas Foss

Lukas Foss (1922-2009) was a composer, conductor, pianist and visionary whose legendary contributions to the Buffalo arts scene were transformative. From 1963-70, Foss served as the music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), championing the works of living composers and 20th century music. In 1964, he co-founded and served as co-director of the Center for Creative and Performing Arts at the University at Buffalo, where he ushered in innovative works and performances for more than two decades.
