Reopening of immunization clinic in Niagara County

Niagara County Department of Health recently announced the reopening of its immunization clinic, beginning Tuesday, July 27. This service will be offered by appointment only on Tuesdays. Call 716-278-1903 to schedule. Immunization clinics are held in Niagara Falls and Lockport.

New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez announced construction will soon begin on a $6.4 million project to rehabilitate State Route 384, Niagara Street, from John B. Daly Boulevard to the Rainbow Bridge Plaza, and John B. Daly Boulevard, from Niagara Street to Buffalo Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls. The project will transform Niagara Street in downtown Niagara Falls, creating a multimodal thoroughfare which will reconnect the portions of Niagara Falls' downtown.

More than a quarter of a million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funding has been earmarked for the Village of Lewiston. On Tuesday, trustees voted to use the money to make repairs to North Ninth Street.
Kiwanis Club of Lewiston announces scholarship recipients

Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston scholarship winners Charles Dieteman, Jessi Avila-Shah and Amaris Huang. The Lewiston Kiwanis Club awarded Dieteman with a scholarship of $1,000. In addition, scholarships of $500 were awarded to Avila-Shah and Huang. The William and Joanne Roth Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, was awarded to Isabella Guerrucci. All four recipients were chosen for their high academic achievement, leadership skills, and community service involvement.

On June 30, Tom Gerbasi's first act as Rotary Club assistant district governor was to install Leslie Scibilia as club president of the Bi-National Rotary Club of Lewiston & Niagara-on-the-Lake. Scibilia said she hopes to continue Rotary's humanitarian projects in the communities it serves on both sides of the Niagara River, as well as in the wider world.

After 22 months apart, Artpark and a few thousand of its closest friends reunited this week for the first "Tuesdays in the Park" of 2021 - the first Tuesday concert since 2019 - heck, the first Tuesday gig since the pandemic shut the world down, shuttered concert venues and grounded tours. There were hugs, warm greetings and cold beverages, at the "reunion show" in Lewiston.

Local good Samaritan Steve Denn helps Ohio tourists get back to Niagara Falls. Denn, watering the new grass along his Lower River Road property, was approached by the tourists who were in need of water for their 1909 Stanley Steamer Model R. The vintage vehicle holds 20 gallons and gets one mile per gallon. Denn was told that his water hose was "like gold."

"Super" Matt Sheppard from Waterloo won the 36th running of the Summer Nationals for the Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series at Ransomville Speedway on Tuesday night. For the fourth time at the "Big R" in 2021, Newfane's Scott Kerwin was victorious, this time in the inaugural Mike Bonesky Memorial for the Investor's Service Sportsman in round one of the Western Region for the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series.
