'Practically Perfect' 'Mary Poppins' is coolest Artpark musical yet

George and Winifred Banks have lost that loving feeling, while their not-so-precious children, Jane and Michael, have run amok - and run many nannies into early retirement. In their hour of need, Mary Poppins (Emilie Renier) appears - out of nowhere - and delivers a spoonful of ... tough love, insight, life lessons ... and, yes, sugar.

I don't have to tell you Favorite's Pizzeria is, well, Lewiston's favorite.

The steady line of customers standing in front of the restaurant counter daily is proof Favorite's has mastered pizza, wings and fingers.

Peach Queen contestants met for the first time this week in preparation for the Niagara County/Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival, to be held Sept. 5-7 at Academy Park in Lewiston. Contestants will attend events and complete community service projects in the next month leading up to the on-stage portion of the program.
Son offering free hot dogs to honor late mother

Joseph Pillittere Jr. will honor his late mother Monday by giving away 500 Silo Restaurant hot dogs. Food will be served from 11 a.m. until the dogs are gone.

Patrons enjoying a free hot dog are encouraged to make a donation to Hospice House.

"Mr. Pillittere has purchased 500 hot dogs. We are working together to hold this great hot dog giveaway to honor his mom," Silo proprietor Alan Hastings said. "We start giving them away until supplies are gone.

"Among other things, those who do make a donation to Hospice House will also be eligible to win one of our 'Sand Dock Sundaes.' We will be making the draw Monday night."

Village of Lewiston outlaws 'pop-up' parking lots, food vending, ticket scalping

Starting tomorrow, the Village of Lewiston will start enforcing its law concerning so-called "pop-up" businesses on residential and municipal property. Trustees will especially crack down on homeowners on South Fourth Street who charge for parking on Artpark concert nights.

"Pop-up" food vending and ticket scalping will not be allowed, either. The board voted 4-0 to prohibit such business ventures.

"I think we all agree that now is the time to do something," Mayor Terry Collesano said.
