On Tuesday, Village of Lewiston Historic Preservation Commission Chairwoman Loretta Frankovitch and members Peter Coppins, Rita Geiben and Christine O’Hara toured the 200-year-old Frontier House, which is set to reopen this summer. Their guide was Jimmy Carminati of Waterbourne Construction Advisors, who is serving as a construction manager consultant for renovation project lead Ellicott Development. Carminati provided a thorough analysis of the completed repairs and of what work still remains.

Some new details offered at the walk-through included:

•The plan for the lower level of the new Fairbanks restaurant – the rathskeller – has changed from bar to banquet space.

•There will be a partition and digital code system on the upper levels so as to keep the ground-level patrons and upper-unit occupants separate. It will be located in the area shown above, next to the staircase leading to the third floor.

•Front porch work is about to begin, and will ultimately include a reactivation of this original front door (shown above, just to the left of the current main doorways).

•New flooring has been installed, and the ceiling bolstered, on the top level.
