"Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart," the lead single from Chris Cornell's solo album "Higher Truth" (out today), has placed the Soundgarden singer back on top of the charts. The track was the most added song at adult album alternative, active rock and mainstream rock radio at the end of August. Cornell performed it Thursday on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

Wall Street rating agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded Erie County's credit rating from "A" to "A+" and commented favorably on the county's fiscal management. Fitch's announcement follows a three-step rating upgrade by Standard & Poor's in September 2014.

The state's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has announced $500,000 in grants are now available to help organizations to improve state parks, trails and historic sites. The grants are available to Friends Groups of State Parks. The program will be administered by State Parks and Parks & Trails New York.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced the team will open its training camp on Thursday, Sept. 17, when veteran players are expected to report for testing and physicals. Beginning Friday, Sept. 18, the team's practice sessions at First Niagara Center will be open to the public, with practices being broken down into multiple sessions throughout each day.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced Friday that Jon DiBernardo, 51, of Lewiston, pleaded guilty to tax evasion before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $100,000 or both.
