The 2015 Autumn Festival, presented by the Sanborn Business and Professional Association, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4 at the Sanborn Lewiston Farm Museum, 2660 Saunders Settlement Road. This marks seven years for the event, said Bonnie Haskell, the museum curator.

The Rivershore Foundation will celebrate Rivershore's 35th anniversary at its annual gala beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Niagara Falls Country Club. The evening includes dinner, entertainment and a silent auction, with all proceeds benefiting Rivershore programs.

Congressman Brian Higgins is once again fighting to save the Kids Korner program at the VA Western New York Healthcare System, which set to expire at the end of 2015. The New York State Department of Labor released the August unemployment report for counties across the state, revealing the unemployment rate in the Buffalo-Niagara region had fallen to 5.2 percent, while the unemployment rate in Erie County alone slipped to 5.1 percent, the lowest it has been in eight years.
