The Lewiston Kiwanis Club seeks entries for the annual Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m.

Advance ride tickets are now available for the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival. They are good for all three days of the event, and will provide 50 percent savings for all rides. A strip of 14 tickets costs $22, and one ticket is good for one ride. Tickets must be purchased by the morning of Saturday, Sept. 8.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Jane's Addiction before, first at the inaugural Lollapallooza Festival (of which Mr. Perry Farrell is the founder), and in New York - both in larger venues than Artpark. But those, like myself, lucky enough to be at the Jane's Addiction concert on Aug. 20 at Artpark were entertained, dazzled and then some

Highwire artist Nik Wallenda returned to Niagara Falls on Thursday, Aug. 23, to update the media about his plans to open a daredevil museum. It was Wallenda's first trip back to the area since he crossed over the falls to Canada on June 15.

Visitors to this weekend's Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival are advised that Center Street in the Village of Lewiston will be closed to vehicular traffic from the intersection of Center and Seventh streets west to Center and Fourth streets. The Center Street stretch will close at 5 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, and reopen Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1 a.m.

Niagara University Theatre has announced its 2012-13 season.
Steven Braddock, director of Niagara University Theatre said, "This season, you will find two Tony Award-winning musicals, three laugh-out-loud comedies by Neil Simon, Steve Martin (yes - that banjo strumming comedian) and Moliere, and a dark and lyrical mystery. In addition, our annual student-directed short play festival will offer comedies, dramas and everything in between. Also, our theater student group, the NU Players, will test their wings by entirely producing a contemporary adult drama about the searing effect of war on relationships."

To foster its goal of preventing the further spread of wildlife rabies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service's wildlife services program has begun its 2012 distribution of oral rabies vaccine baits in select areas along the East Coast. The annual Newfane Town Celebration kicked off Friday night with Main Street filled with motorcycles for Bike Night. Lots of bikes on the street with some great custom and stock machines, old and new, along with perfect weather, brought a large crowd out to see the bikes, visit with friends and find a bite to eat.
