Stacey Zahno of Ransomville, wife of powerlifting American record-holder Dan Zahno, recently competed at the United States Powerlifting Association New York State Ironman/Ironwoman Championships in Angola. She set two state records, with a bench press of 82.7 pounds and a deadlift of 203.9 pounds to win the women's 123-pound open division.

Stacey has been training under the guidance of her husband for several months and is now presently training for the state powerlifting championships, to be held on Nov. 10, in Niagara Falls.

•Dennis Brochey, chairman of the USPA, has elected to step down as captain of the Niagara Powerlifting Club, a position that he held for the past 14 years. Brochey has chosen Dan Zahno as the new captain of the club.

"Dan will be a great leader, trainer and organizer to lead the club of approximately 20 to 25 members," Brochey said.
