On Tuesday, June 13, KeyBank will host its 32nd annual "Neighbors Make the Difference Day." From 1-5 p.m., hundreds of teammates in Buffalo will spend time volunteering with community organizations at more than 40 service projects in the region. They'll join thousands of KeyBank teammates nationwide in receiving paid time off to volunteer at more than 500 projects in the neighborhoods where they live and work.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a team of Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers is deploying to assist with efforts to contain wildfires raging in eastern Canada. The New York team will join firefighters from New Hampshire and Maine in Quebec. Hundreds of fires in Quebec have triggered several days of air quality health advisories across New York.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos and state Department of Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald issued an air quality health advisory for the Long Island, New York City metro and Western New York regions for Friday, June 9. The pollutant of concern is fine particulate matter. The advisory will be in effect from midnight through 11:59 p.m. The air quality is forecasted to reach "unhealthy for sensitive groups" air quality index levels.

Seven new merchants are opening their doors at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, including four locally owned stores, two family attractions, and a food court restaurant. In addition, Elegant Fashion, a store that has been with the Fashion Outlets for many years, has relocated near Entrance 7. All merchants are expected to open prior to July. Each is located within the indoor portion of the center.

The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) recommends that all residents take precautions to reduce health risks associated with the ongoing unhealthy air quality. Residents should remain inside as much as possible, with doors and windows closed, and use an air purifier or air conditioner with a high-efficiency filter.
