The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen have teamed up with Oishei Children's Hospital to create Bills Mafia Tailgate Sauce. The wing sauce is now available exclusively at Wegmans, the "Official Tailgating Headquarters of the Buffalo Bills." Proceeds from the Bills Mafia Tailgate Sauce go straight to the Patricia Allen Foundation, which directly supports Oishei's pediatric critical care team.
Higgins & Catholic Health: $880K in American Rescue Plan funding for community vaccine outreach in Niagara County

Congressman Brian Higgins on Thursday announced Catholic Health has been awarded $880,000 in American Rescue Plan Funding to address COVID-19 vaccine disparities in Niagara County, particularly in Niagara Falls, where lack of access to vaccine resources and widespread vaccine hesitancy are preventing the community from reaching optimal vaccination rates.

Jazz Festival fundraiser set for this weekend

The Lewiston Jazz Festival Inc. board of directors will host a "Jazz in Lewiston" fundraiser event on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27-28, at dining establishments in the Village of Lewiston. Of course, the traditional two-day street festival will not take place this year, but jazz music will still be prominent throughout the weekend. Live music will be courtesy of local jazz musicians who have performed at past Jazz Festivals.
ECDOH: 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccine available to moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals

Following last week's action by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to amend to the emergency use authorizations (EUAs) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the Erie County Department of Health will provide a third dose for certain people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised due to a medical condition or receipt of immunosuppressive medications or treatments.

DEC announces first documented lake trout reproduction in Lake Erie in more than 60 years

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced a "significant milestone" for lake trout rehabilitation efforts in Lake Erie following the confirmed identification of wild fry collected by DEC's Lake Erie fisheries research unit this spring. DEC said the discovery of wild lake trout fry is a historic restoration indicator for a population that was once plentiful, but collapsed due to overfishing, habitat degradation and invasive species.

On Friday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems, including those who have had a heart, stem cell or other organ transplant and are on immunosuppressive treatment, or who have weakened immune systems due to disease or other medical treatment including active cancer therapy.
