Consumer alert: NYS DCP reminds parents to pay attention to lifesaving information related to product recalls

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection urges parents and caregivers to pay attention to product recalls. In January, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which issues product recalls across all categories of consumer goods, reissued earlier recalls for two inclined sleep products after additional infant deaths were reported. Inclined sleepers are dangerous for babies and increase the risk of suffocation.
Hochul announces completion of more than 1,000 joint counterterrorism exercises across state in 2022

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services' Office of Counter Terrorism conducted training exercises at more than 1,000 locations statewide in 2022, partnering with New York State Police and counterterrorism experts from more than 80 state and local law enforcement agencies in assessing the ability of retail businesses and mass-gathering sites to recognize and report suspicious activity in nearly every county in the state.
The Buffalo History Museum begins 'Blizzard of 2022' collecting initiative

The Buffalo History Museum has begun collecting photos, videos, objects and audio testimonials from the "Blizzard of 2022." All media and artifacts collected from the community will be preserved in the museum's archives at One Museum Court. This new collection will be available for research and reference, and may be used for future projects, exhibits and programs at the museum.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced Thursday that 23-year-old Daquawn D. Mike of Niagara Falls was sentenced before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to 20 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced as a second felony offender.

US Fish and Wildlife Service extends effective date to reclassify northern long-eared bat as endangered

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is delaying the effective date of the final rule to reclassify the northern long-eared bat from threatened to endangered under the Endangered Species Act. The agency is extending the effective date by 60 days, from Jan. 30 to March 31, 2023.

Out of that and other writing camps, the Women Who Worship movement was birthed. Last year, this group gathered to unite and amplify the voices of women around the world and record a live album, which will release "Women Who Worship" on March 3 in partnership with WorshipTogether.
