On Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, Dr. Glenda R. Rose and Dr. Thomas G. Barba of Rose Chiropractic, P.C., in Lewiston, will be sponsoring the 35th annual "Doctors with a Heart Day" for their patients. Nonperishable food items will be collected to benefit the Niagara Community Action Program (NiaCAP) food pantry, in exchange for chiropractic services.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $10 million in state funding is available to offer a statewide youth and teen mental health first aid program. The state Office of Mental Health will administer the funding to develop a training and certification program that helps New Yorkers identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in young people who may be experiencing a crisis.

At 8:41 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications division received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle that had crashed into a house in the 400 block of Kenwood Drive. On Jan. 18, at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communication center received a 911 call reporting an abandoned dog in a dumpster behind Nelson's Café, 2298 River Road. Deputies responded and were able to retrieve the dog. The dog was turned over to the care of SPCA agent Rinehart.

She issued a proclamation and directed that all state landmarks be illuminated yellow tomorrow, Jan. 18, in honor of those impacted by stalking and all forms of gender-based violence.
