Olin Corporation submits application for proposed $20 million project in Niagara Falls; combined projects would create 74 new jobs The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board of directors today accepted applications for assistance from Olin Corporation, Gateway Harbor Inn, Frank's Vacuum Truck Services Inc., Mawhiney Trucking Inc. and Taylor Devices for economic development projects in Niagara County. When combined, these projects total $30 million and would create 74 new jobs, while retaining 328 current positions in the county.

Niagara County customers purchased 2,353 "Opportunities Unlimited Donuts" in August during a special promotion created by the Niagara County-area Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop restaurant owners. At the Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop located at 8500 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, restaurant owner Bob Burns presented a check for $2,000 to Connie S. Brown, executive director of Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara.

During Tuesday night's meeting of a key committee, members of the Niagara County Legislature's majority caucus announced a move to cut health benefits for lawmakers sworn in this coming January and require former lawmakers that received lifetime health care under old rules to pay a portion of their health care costs.

With the persistent weakness of the national economy, county leaders are taking steps to help local job seekers find employment by hosting a job fair Wednesday.
Niagara County's Fall Job Fair will be held Wednesday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Antonio's Banquet and Conference Center, 7708 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls. There is no cost for job seekers.
