Bluesman Buddy Guy, actor Dustin Hoffman, comedian and television host David Letterman, ballerina Natalia Makarova and rock band Led Zeppelin will receive honors for 2012 on "The 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors," to be broadcast Wednesday, Dec. 26, on CBS.

In a star-studded celebration on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, the 2012 honorees will be saluted by great performers from Hollywood and the arts capitals of the world.

On Wednesday, the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency approved an application for assistance submitted at its August board meeting by Sustainable BioElectric LLC. The company plans to build a renewable energy facility in the Summit Business Park in the Town of Wheatfield. The NCIDA board also accepted an application for assistance for consideration from JSK International Corp. The company will restore the historic Niagara Hotel in Niagara Falls.

Nearly 400 medical practices throughout the eight counties of Western New York have joined HEALTHeLINK, utilizing health information technology for secure access to their patients' medical information immediately at the point of care. Niagara Celtic Festival kicks off Saturday in Olcott

The 12th annual Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games will take place in Olcott on Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, at Krull Park in historic Olcott Beach.

Recently, Krull Park was honored with a second-place finish in Coca-Cola's "America's Favorite Park Contest," and took home a $50,000 prize after receiving more than 21 million votes. The Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival has been held at Krull Park each year since 2002.

This year, the festival grounds have been split into eight regions so that festivalgoers have an easier time finding the events and attractions they want to attend.

Western New York Regional Economic Development Council announces priority project endorsements and updates public on 'Buffalo Billion'

The Western New York Regional Economic Development Council met to endorse 24 projects as priority projects for the second round of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Regional Council initiative. The council also provided an update to the public on the progress of the "Buffalo Billion" initiative. Cuomo has tasked the WNYREDC with recommending an investment strategy that will leverage the state's $1 billion pledge and gain a 5:1 commitment from the private sector, resulting in more than $6 billion in total economic development impact.
