Hardwick announces HEAP outreach slated for Golden Age Center

Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick has announced that a Home Energy Assistance Program outreach will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Grand Island Golden Age Center, 3278 Whitehaven Road. Interviews will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. All applicants will be interviewed.
Grand Island Board of Education: District to be construction site for next three years

The Grand Island Board of Education worked through a lengthy agenda of approvals, reports and tabling of items.

The board also had a new look, which included new Interim Superintendent of Schools Paul Hashem, Vice President Paul Krull presiding and trustee Tak Nobumoto in attendance via Skype. Trustee Joan Droit was absent due to a medical problem, and the board is functioning without a president since David Goris' resignation earlier in the month.

Lewiston Council on the Arts launches 'Lewiston Discovery Series' Feb. 20

The Lewiston Council on the Arts has announced the "Lewiston Discovery Series," a new program for curious minds. The aim of the series is to share the "art of" an interesting mix of creative cultural topics. The series will be presented every other month beginning in February at the Historic Opera Hall, 732 Center St.

The programs will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered. No advance registration is required. A suggested $5 donation will benefit the LCA and the Opera Hall restoration fund.

NU sets up satellite Civic Engagement Office in Niagara Falls
