Gleason's School of Gymnastics Level 4 wins team trophy

The Level 4 Niagara Team from Gleason's School of Gymnastics recently participated in the fifth annual Jacquie Hirsch Memorial Girls Buffalo Challenge, winning the first place team trophy with 189.25 cumulative points.

The 6-to-8 year-olds were led by Isabel Konopka from Holy Ghost Lutheran School with an impressive total score of 37.800 for first place in the all around. She placed first in floor, second on beam, third on bars and fourth on vault.

Lauren Osetkowski, a second-grader at Errick Road Elementary, placed fifth on beam, eighth on vault, 11th on floor and 13th on bars for a total score of 35.2 for 14th place in the all around.

Marissa Plekan, a second grader at Starpoint's Fricano Elementary, placed sixth on bars, seventh on vault, eighth on beam and 14th on floor for a total score of 35.25 for all around ninth place.

The 9-year-old Level 4 girls started with St. Francis of Assisi third-grader Faithe Belkota with a first place on beam, fourth place on bars, ninth place on floor and 19th on vault. Her total score of 36.775 earned her sixth place in the all around.

Miya Hargis placed third in the all around with a total score of 37.225, third place on bars, fifth place on vault, fifth place on floor and seventh place on beam.

Brienna Sitzman, Errick Road Elementary fourth-grader, had a total score of 36.15 placing 11th in the all around, sixth on bars, 10th on beam, ninth on vault and 18th on floor.

Morgan Vittum a third-grader at Errick Road Elementary, placed fourth on vault, second on beam, 14th on floor, 15th on bars. Her total of 36.435 earned ninth place on all around.

Emma Kwiatkowski, a seventh-grader at Edward Town Middle School, finished ninth place in the all around for the age group 11 and up with a total score of 36.0. She placed fifth in beam, ninth on floor, 12th on bars and 14th on vault.

•The Level 9 team from Gleason's team Niagara competed in the Leatherstocking Invitational on Jan. 19 at Mohawk Valley Community College, hosted by Valley Gymnastics.

Rebecca Cribbs, an eighth-grader at Starpoint Middle School, placed second on the floor exercise, 10th on the balance beam and 10th all around with a 34.625.

Danielle Thaler, an eighth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed seventh on the balance beam.
