The Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary recently presented a check to the Center for Women at Mount St. Mary's Hospital for infant resuscitation equipment. The funds were raised from the sale of hot dogs at the Lewiston Art Festival - a club project for 47 years.

The Buffalo Sabres will roll out the blue and gold carpet before the team's preseason game this Saturday, Sept. 21, against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Western New Yorkers are invited to attend a special screening of the film "Decoding Annie Parker" on Thursday, Sept. 26, with partial proceeds benefiting the Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The film's director, Steven Bernstein, is a Buffalo native who will return to Western New York for the film's screening prior to its nationwide release.

It's debatable how well we journalists actually know the actors and actresses we interview. But to me, Dayo Okeniyi seems like a nice guy. He appears to be intelligent and a hard worker. He loves his mother and he's trying to be an inspiration for those in his home country of Nigeria.
And yet, for some strange reason, I keep watching Dayo die on screen.

Assemblyman John Ceretto is applauding the tentative agreement to approve the proposal for a new hotel in downtown Niagara Falls. The Hamister Hotel project now will be able to move forward because Niagara Falls Councilman Robert Anderson Jr. announced he will vote in favor of the hotel deal.

On Monday afternoon, Niagara Falls City Councilman Bob Anderson said he would vote in favor of developer Mark Hamister's proposal to build a $25 million hotel in downtown Niagara Falls. The project is now expected to have the necessary number of votes to gain approval.

The fourth annual CardioCraze Wellness Walk of Mount St. Mary's Hospital brought more than 150 walkers to the Village of Lewiston on Saturday. Designed to promote awareness of heart disease and good health, the walkers collected donations and raised more than $10,000 for cardiology initiatives at Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
