ESD board approves funding for projects leveraging more than $674 million in investments, creating and retaining 3,800 jobs

Empire State Development's board of directors met and approved $40,142,296 in funding for projects that will create more than 1,430 new jobs and retain more than 2,350 jobs throughout the Empire State. This funding will leverage $674-plus million in additional investments to support business growth and lay the groundwork for future economic growth and job creation.
Schneiderman: $17 million multistate settlement with Google over tracking of consumers

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced his office has entered into multistate a settlement agreement with Google Inc. concerning its unauthorized placement of cookies on computers using Apple Safari Web browsers during 2011 and 2012. Of the $17 million in settlement money, New York will receive $899,580.

Last night's NBC "Sunday Night Football" game featuring the first meeting of 9-0 and 8-1-or-better teams in 44 years posted a 16.6 overnight rating and 27 share (8:30 p.m.-midnight ET) - marking the best primetime overnight for a November game in 17 years and a 36 percent increase over last season's week 11 "SNF" game (12.2 for Baltimore-Pittsburgh). The Denver Broncos (8-1) hosted the Kansas City Chiefs (9-0).

Verni to lead restaurant and sports bar at HARBORCENTER

HARBORCENTER President John R. Koelmel announced today that Dominic Verni has been named general manager of its restaurant and sports bar.

"Dom brings tremendous experience and notable success in the food and beverage industry to HARBORCENTER," Koelmel said. "We are very excited to have him leading the team that will make our restaurant and sports bar one of downtown Buffalo's most enjoyable and notable entertainment venues."

The yet-to-be-named establishment will be owned and operated by HARBORCENTER.

The wine was not the only "spirit" to be seen along the Niagara Wine Trail USA last weekend. The spirit of giving back was the theme of the trail's "Share the Bounty" event, held Nov. 8-11. The 19 wineries along the Niagara Wine Trail, USA, raised funds and nonperishable food items for local charities and food banks.

This is a story I said I was going to tell readers about earlier this year. The Sargasso Sea is a region of calm water somewhere near the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, off our east coast. The Gulf Stream touches the edge of the Sargasso. It is recognized by its deep blue color and by the seaweed and other non-biodegradable junk that floats at its top.
