The Grand Island Republican Committee gathered on March 13 to honor recently retired Town Councilman Ray Billica at their annual St. Patrick's Day Party, held at the festively decorated Riverstone Grill. A large crowd enjoyed delicious St. Patrick's Day-themed hors d'oeuvres and desserts, beverages, door prizes (a necklace from deSignet International and a shamrock plant) and a silent auction.

Preparations are underway for the 2018 Northwest Jazz Festival, which will take place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25 in the Village of Lewiston. To help offset some of outdoor event's costs, the board of directors and Jazz Festival staff will hold their annual fundraiser, "A Taste of Jazz," this year at the Brickyard Brewing Company, 432 Center St. Live music, food and raffles will be offered from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, April 15.
