Only top 10 percent of facilities in each state receive 5 stars
For the second time, Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, part of Ascension, has been recognized as one of the top care facilities in the state of New York after receiving its five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Every year, CMS categorizes each state's nursing centers using a five-star quality rating system. CMS created the rating system to make it easier for consumers to compare nursing homes. Overall facility ratings are derived from the average of health inspection, staffing and quality ratings.
Only the top 10 percent of facilities in each state receive five stars.
"As the only faith-based facility in Niagara County, we are proud to receive the highest rating," said Teresa Dillsworth, executive director of Our Lady of Peace. "Our staff is dedicated to providing the best care and rehabilitation for all our patients and residents, and we will continue to strive for excellence."
Our Lady of Peace is a state-of-the-art facility offering speech, occupational and physical therapy, as well as memory services and traditional care, throughout multiple care units. The facility has high-tech amenities, including a therapy whirlpool and voyager lifts.
The staff of Our Lady of Peace has also been recognized for having longevity in its workforce above its peers by the New York State Department of Health.
Consumers and other payers can access facility ratings on Medicare's facility comparison website to determine the best facility for their needs. For more information about the rating system, visit Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' consumer fact sheet.
Our Lady of Peace is located at 5285 Lewiston Road, Lewiston.
