Emmy and SAG-winning actress Debra Messing will guest star on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," scheduled to air this February. Messing is a five-time Emmy nominee and a six-time Golden Globe nominee for her role as Grace Adler in NBC's hit series "Will and Grace," for which she won the Emmy in 2003. She also gained Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG nominations for her role in the USA Network miniseries "The Starter Wife."

The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center will host an African American Art Exhibition from Feb. 11 to March 20 that will showcase many talented artists from the Western New York area. To allow the exhibition to represent a wide range of artistic mediums it will not be limited to a specific genre or medium.

Remembering those who need help

For this year's Christmas project, the students of St. Peter's Lutheran School, Sanborn, decided they wanted to help those in the local area. Each class collected personal care items, such as soap, shampoo and washcloths, which were sorted and put into men's and women's cloth carrying bags made by staff members. They were taken to local shelters to help those in need.

This year, for a special holiday treat, the Veronica E. Connor Middle School PTA funded the production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," presented by the Hampstead Stage Theatre Company of New Hampshire. This two-actor traveling show portrayed the traditional story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his interaction with the Cratchit family, as well as the ghosts that change Scrooge's views on others one Christmas Eve.
