A new clinical research study at Roswell Park Cancer Institute will assess the safety and efficacy of a novel immunotherapy approach to treating advanced melanoma. Developed at RPCI by Roswell Park researchers, the investigational vaccine shows promise for treating tumors in patients with stage III/stage IV melanoma, and perhaps as a future therapy for other solid-tumor cancers as well.

Dunkin' Donuts today announced that Buffalo franchisee Tim Cloe has signed agreements to build four new Dunkin' Donuts locations this year with Amherst-based Bevilacqua Development.
The new locations are slated to open in 2013 in Lockport, Hanover and Amherst (near UB North and on Transit Road) and will all feature the new modern Dunkin' Donuts look introduced this year.

Award-winning executive producer Mark Burnett ("The Voice," "Celebrity Apprentice") will continue his relationship with the peacock network by bringing "A.D.: Beyond the Bible" (working title) to NBC. Working with his wife, actress Roma Downey, this is Burnett's follow-up project to spring's enormously popular 10-part miniseries "The Bible."
"We are thrilled to be working with Bob, Jen and Quinn Taylor to bring the follow-up to our hit cable series 'The Bible' to broadcast television with NBC," Burnett and Downey said. "Our new series, 'A.D.: Beyond the Bible,' is another massive project and a major commitment, but it's a story that has to be told. It's a story that changed the world. We look forward to making this an enormous television event on NBC."

The Buffalo Sabres selected a league-high 11 prospects, including seven forwards, three defensemen and a goaltender, at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, which was held Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Buffalo also traded defenseman Andrej Sekera to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Jamie McBain and a second-round pick (35th overall) in this year's draft.

An independent report from the New York Public Interest Research Group shows State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-I-60, was one of the Empire State's busiest and most effective lawmakers. The recently released study of legislation that passed this session in both the New York State Senate and State Assembly showed Grisanti had 20 bills pass both houses - more then any local member of the Assembly and Senate.

Mother Nature once again played the spoiler all over the northeast today, including at Ransomville Speedway. All night rains on Thursday gave way to gloomy but dry conditions through the early part of today, giving hope to all. Unfortunately, the rains returned at 3 p.m. forcing officials to pull the plug on tonight's program.
