Women United of Greater Niagara's baby supply drive is ongoing. Donations of baby bottles, bottle brushes, wipes, diapers, pacifiers, lotion, baby cereal, baby food, formula (Enfamil) and new baby clothes can be dropped off at the United Way of Greater Niagara office, located at 6420 Inducon Drive West, Suite B2, throughout the month.

Tops Friendly Markets once again partnered with JDRF as it embarked on a 53rd year to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes (T1D). The campaign, which began Sunday, March 5, and ran through Saturday, March 25, raised $321,000. This was the 30th year Tops has helped run the JDRF campaign at its stores.

In a period of less than a year, the Western New York region has been rocked by a tragic, mass-casualty shooting; historic snowstorms; flooding in the Southern Tier; and hundreds of home fires that have displaced families and, in some instances, resulted in loss of life. In response to all of those events, Red Cross volunteers have been there to assist their neighbors in times of greatest need, just as they do every day in fulfilling the organization's mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in times of emergency.

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection has released tips to inform and empower New York consumers purchasing gift cards and gift certificates this holiday season. Any gift cards or gift certificates purchased in New York state on or after Dec. 10, 2022, will remain valid for a minimum of nine years from the date of purchase. And, when the remaining value of a gift card or gift certificate is less than $5, the recipient can opt to receive cash for the balance.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday signed legislation that will require residential health care facilities to "swiftly update residents as well as their family members and guardians when an infection is detected within the facility. It also requires nursing homes to have a plan in place to accommodate exposed or infected residents to stop the spread of the infection."
