She brings 20 years of experience to this role, and holds a BA degree in psychology from Niagara University, along with CASAC Advanced Counselor Certification. Mount St. Mary's Hospital (MSMH) welcomed the providers from UBMD Emergency Medicine to the emergency department on Jan. 1, along with the medical team from Buffalo-Niagara Hospitalists, who will manage inpatient care at the hospital. These two groups are also slated to facilitate both inpatient care and emergency care at the new Lockport Memorial Campus of Mount St. Mary's Hospital when it opens later in 2023.

Change is coming to Grand Island's McDonald's. Located at 2231 Grand Island Blvd., the familiar restaurant had fallen into disrepair. There were complaints of broken things in the restaurant, including a milkshake machine that was often out of order.

The Niagara Falls Heritage Gateways project, which is comprised of five public gateway features intended to stimulate reinvestment in Niagara Falls, will move forward. In addition, New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has approved an agreement authorizing the Aquarium of Niagara to manage operations at the currently closed Niagara Gorge Discovery Center. Construction will now start on transforming the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center into Great Lakes 360 - an "exciting new space for Great Lakes-focused exhibits."

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced New York state will continue with the $15 minimum hourly wage phase-in for upstate counties on Dec. 31. Workers outside of New York City, Long Island and Westchester County will see an increase by $1 per hour, from $13.20 to $14.20, following a statutorily required economic analysis conducted by the New York State Division of the Budget.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $24.3 million has been awarded to support 56 municipalities and not-for-profit organizations for park improvements, heritage area enhancements and historic preservation projects through round XII of the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.
