During Sunday’s victory, the Buffalo Bills and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York recognized Frontier High School Spanish teacher and girls varsity lacrosse coach Rebecca Galanti as the season’s final “Highmark Community Hero.”

A press release stated, “Throughout the regular season, ‘Highmark’s Community Hero’ program shined a spotlight on influential individuals and nonprofit organizations in the Western New York community.”

Like other previous recipients, Frontier High School Athletics will receive a $2,500 donation in recognition of Galanti’s impact on the community.

The press release added, “This year, Galanti was named coach of the year after guiding the team to back-to-back Section VI titles. A Frontier graduate and award-winning lacrosse player herself, Galanti began her career coaching the school’s junior varsity team before working up to the varsity team.

“A leader in the community, Galanti works year-round to build the sport of girls lacrosse through the Falcon Lacrosse Club. Those who work with her say she is a role model and ambassador who works tirelessly to further the sport of girls lacrosse.”

Kevin Guest House, Buffalo Go Green, the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park and Family Museum, the Buffalo Urban League, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York, and Peaceprints of WNY were also recognized as 2022 “Highmark Community Heroes,” each receiving a $2,500 donation.
