The Kenan Center in Lockport will host a "Mom's Night Out Vendor Fair" from 5-9 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Kenan Center House and Taylor Theater. All proceeds benefit the Kenan Center Montessori Preschool. Admission is free for the event.

Participating organizations of "Cross Border Blues" recently came together in a collaborative effort at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in downtown St. Catharines to cross-promote events on both sides of the border. They are using the blues to build bridges across cultures, generations and geographies.

The National Comedy Center, the first nonprofit cultural institution and national-scale visitor experience dedicated to the art of comedy, announces its opening: Aug. 1-5, coinciding with the organization's annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in Jamestown. The new, 37,000-square-foot, $50 million facility tells the story of comedy from its origins through the present, with more than 50 immersive, interactive exhibits.

The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) and Canalside announced the 2018 GlassBarge tour will visit Buffalo, docking at Canalside on Aug. 3-5. As the 2018 signature event for the statewide celebration of the Erie Canal bicentennial, GlassBarge will offer free public glassmaking demonstrations at each scheduled stop during its four-month tour.

It was a great work out for a great cause. Spinning instructor Stefany Critelli held a three-hour spin class at ChrisFit in Lewiston on Feb. 24. Riders paid $10 for each hour they participated. Many rode for the entire three hours and gave extra donations, as well. The event, which raised $500, was a pre-ride to support the Hospice Gran Fondo bicycle ride that raises money for Niagara Hospice.

The City of Niagara Falls, Old Falls Street, The Conference & Event Center, Destination Niagara Falls USA and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino hosted a grand tree-lighting ceremony Saturday to celebrate the season and kickoff the new Jingle Falls promotion. The event took place at Seneca Square (in front of Seneca Niagara), and featured a performance by Michael Cavanaugh of Broadway's "Movin' Out" before the light switch was turned on illuminating a 35-foot Blue Spruce.

Old Fort Niagara invites the public to experience the holiday spirit in the company of 18th century-style merrymakers at this season's "Castle by Candlelight" tours on Dec. 9 and 16. Music, crafts, demonstrations and more will make the French Castle, decorated by the Youngstown Garden Club, brim with festivities. The event will also include the feu de joie celebratory cannon and musket firings.
