Have you ever longed for the magic of a Victorian Christmas? Bring your imagination and sense of wonder to "A Winter's Fest Eve," Thursday, Dec. 7, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the History Center's historic Col. William Bond/Jesse Hawley House, 143 Ontario St., Lockport.
Christmas Past will come to life in the circa-1823 brick home, on this open-house evening. Organizers are filling the Bond-Hawley House, Lockport's hidden treasure, with 19th century décor and Christmas spirit as they kick off the festive season with plenty of Victorian style.
Each of the 12 rooms in the National Register-listed, federal home/museum will feature the new exhibit "A Victorian Christmas Celebration." Holiday refreshments and music will fill the fully furnished and restored house, built by Col. Bond and then owned by Erie Canal advocate Jesse Hawley. Enjoy homemade cookies, hot mulled cider, children's activities and tours.
Local musical group Another Thyme will entertain with seasonal music throughout the evening.
The Christmas exhibit is created by co-curators Becky and Gloria Pittler.
