Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has been designated as a children's health home by the New York State Department of Health. This designation permits Niagara Falls Memorial to provide care management services to eligible children throughout Niagara County.

Current city Alderman-at-Large Robert Pecoraro announced June 5 he will seek his first full term on the North Tonawanda Common Council. Pecoraro was named to the council in February, after Malcolm Needler resigned to become the part-time Niagara County personnel officer.

Walking down the halls of an animal shelter filled with dog kennels can be a little intimidating. Stuck in a small space with enough room to move around, but not to run and surrounded by strangers, a dog in a kennel can get pretty excited when it sees a new face walking by.

Beginning Monday, June 1, the North Tonawanda History Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday (except July 3 to July 6) through Aug. 31. It will also be open Sunday, July 19, the first day of Canal Fest. The rest of the year, the history museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays.

State Sen. Rob Ortt today announced $12.5 million has been secured to create a Learning Commons center at Niagara County Community College. The money, included in the 2015-16 state budget, will be used to renovate and upgrade the college's library, Child Development Center and Faculty Resource Center.
