Army Corps releases alternative 3 project for NFSS

The U.S. Amy Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, reports the public comment period is now underway on the plans to what is referred to as the alternative 3 "balance of plant" remediation at the Niagara Falls Storage Site in Lewiston.

Lewiston-Porter celebrates the return of sports to our campus. For the fall season, varsity/JV soccer (boys/girls), varsity golf (boys/girls), varsity tennis (girls), and varsity cross-country (boys/girls) are all on. Athletics move forward in a limited fashion, in alignment with the Niagara Frontier League and following strict state guidelines.
Fire at Niagara Frontier Country Club

On Wednesday, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a phone call from an alarm company stating a fire alarm was activated at the Niagara Frontier Country Club. Deputies and fire fighters responded to the scene and reported smoke coming from the main building at the country club. Once inside, it was the discovered there was a fire coming from kitchen area of the country club.

Pets, and their owners, are invited to a special "drive-in" blessing of the animals in the parking lot adjacent to St. John's Episcopal Church, Main and Chestnut streets in Youngstown. The event will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. The Rev. Canon Barbara Price will mark the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, with this special event. SPCA's 'Paws for Love' visits Mt. St. Mary's

SPCA's "Paws for Love" program was recently approved for stress relief events for essential workers. As such, the pups visited Mount St. Mary's Hospital for some stress-reducing therapy on Thursday, in the grassy grove between Mount St. Mary's and Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home. Pet owners and their sweet dogs greeted hospital staff, physicians and nurses.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul joined Village of Lewiston officials in officially opening the new, multimillion-dollar waterfront on Wednesday. Improvements at the popular Lewiston Landing include new shoreline stabilization measures to protect the area from future flooding and the installation of new floating docks, a new pathway with railings, improved lighting and power stations.
