WellNow Allergy launches with allergy testing & immunotherapy

WellNow Allergy, an affiliate of urgent care provider WellNow Urgent Care, is accepting patients in Western New York to provide allergy sufferers of all ages with what it called "convenient, on-demand access to allergy testing and immunotherapy (also known as allergy shots)."
Ryan announces passage of bill expanding 'ReCharge NY' program to benefit more small businesses

New York State Sen. Sean Ryan recently announced Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law Ryan's legislation (S.5992), which increases the amount of low-cost power available to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations through the New York Power Authority's "ReCharge NY" program. The amount of power available through the program has risen from 100 megawatts to 150 megawatts.

Msgr. James G. Kelly (83), a retired priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, but who continues to assist in parish ministry. The complaint has been filed anonymously and was not served on the diocese but was discovered during a recent search of publicly filed complaints."

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance reminded taxpayers to review their eligibility for The Child Tax Credit. The American Rescue Plan increased the Child Tax Credit to $3,600 per child for children under 6 years old and $3,000 per child for children ages 6-17. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will begin distributing monthly payments of up to $300 per child to eligible families in the coming weeks; the remaining half of the 2021 credits must be claimed on income tax returns filed next spring.

Catholic Health notified of data breach by third-party vendor

On June 3, Catholic Health was notified by a third-party pharmaceutical software vendor, CaptureRx, of a data breach that impacted patients from Mount St. Mary's and Sisters of Charity hospitals along with other local and national healthcare providers. The breach involved patient information, including name, date of birth and prescription data from files that were accessed on Feb. 6, 2021. No other identifying information such as demographic, social security number or bank account information was included in the data breach.

During a recent ceremony at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, Congressman Brian Higgins honored the service and sacrifice of Lance Cpl. Frederick Ziomek. He was joined by Tom Thompson, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 77; and Paul Marzello, president and CEO of the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park. They marked the addition of Ziomek to the Western New York Vietnam Veterans Monument.
