U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh and Congressman Brian Higgins on Monday visited the site of a future Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority charging station in Buffalo, to discuss the opportunities the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act ("bipartisan infrastructure law") can deliver to American communities and workers. The NFTA operates bus, light rail and airport transportation in Western New York, supporting 1,600 jobs in the Buffalo-Niagara Region.

Christmas Walk weekend wrapped Sunday night with the inaugural Lewiston Christmas Lights Parade. The one-hour event featured floats and decorated first-responder vehicles, as well as dancers, costumed characters, musical performances and local nonprofits. The Village of Lewiston Planning Commission on Monday granted preliminary site plan approval for what was described as a national urgent care company to erect and operate a structure at 860 Center St. The parcel has been vacant since April 2012, when the building that now houses the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce office was transported from the site and moved across the street to Academy Park.

At 3:29 a.m. Saturday, the Buffalo Zoo's greater one-horned rhino, Tashi, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. This is Tashi's fifth calf, but the first with previous male George, who formerly lived at the venue but now resides at another Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited facility.
