Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative collecting toys, cold-weather accessories

It’s the season of giving, and the Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative is collecting donations for two campaigns to support the Niagara Falls community this holiday season.

The nonprofit organization is collecting new, unopened toys for children in the area so that, come Christmas, the little ones will have a surprise waiting for them to open.

In addition to the toy collection, cold-weather accessories are being collected to support members of the community, as winter approaches and temperatures drop even further. Items such as blankets, hats, gloves and mittens, scarves and more can be donated.

These donation drives are part of the collaborative’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the City of Niagara Falls and its residents, a goal that starts with an investment from the community itself.

Donations can be dropped off at the Niagara Falls Underground Heritage Center, located at 825 Depot Ave. West, Niagara Falls. The Heritage Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Toy donations will be accepted through Monday, Dec. 20. There will be a toy giveaway, held in collaboration with the Niagara Falls Housing Authority and Norstar Development, from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at Beloved Community Center, located at 1710 Calumet Ave.

Cold-weather accessories can be donated throughout the season and will be distributed during Charlie’s Community Kitchen events, as well as at other opportunities so the Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative can service the community throughout the organization’s daily work.
