Heat warnings issued: AAA warns motorists of extreme heat & dangers of hot vehicles

With heat warnings issued across the region, AAA Western and Central New York is reminding motorists to be aware of the dangers of hot cars. On average, 37 children die in hot cars every year. While an overwhelming majority of these deaths are accidental, such tragedies are often preventable.

After New York Attorney General Letitia James announced an agreement this past weekend with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) that will deliver up to $230 million to the state - the largest monetary settlement ever secured by James - and bar the company and all of its subsidiaries, predecessors and successors from manufacturing or selling opioids anywhere in the nation, elected officials and community leaders came out and expressed their support for the agreement.

His team said, "Given New York's dramatic progress against COVID-19, with the success in vaccination rates, and declining hospitalization and positivity statewide, the state of emergency will expire after Thursday, June 24."

COVID-19: $25 million in child care scholarships for essential workers

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday announced New York state will provide $25 million in child care scholarships to all essential workers starting June 23. Applications open for $800 million COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program
