Park Rangers add resources to Erie County parks

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined Thursday by Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Troy P. Schinzel, Chief of Police Services for the Erie County Sheriff's Office Scott Joslyn, Deputy Commissioner of Emergency Services Gregory Butcher and community members at Chestnut Ridge Park to introduce three new parks personnel, a supervising Park Ranger and two Park Rangers.

On Friday, Aug. 21, Dance Like a Star with Serge hosted the Niagara County Peach Queen Pageant contestants at the studio for a luau party. The contestants learned the cha-cha, rhumba and a few other steps. They danced with partners and were treated to performances by the professional dance staff.

Friday marked a relatively quiet change at the top for the Lewiston Police Department. Chief Chris Salada finished his last day on the job and, at least for the time being, department operations will be maintained via seniority with LPD Sgt. Frank Previte expected to oversee day-to-day affairs until a replacement is officially named.
